The commander of the 36th Division, Brigadier General Dado Bar Kalifa, and the commander of the 188th Brigade, Col. Or Volozhinsky, held a moving ceremony yesterday (Tuesday) in the heart of the Gaza Strip, in which Lt. Col. Roy was officially appointed commander of the 53rd Armored Battalion.
Lt. Col. Roy will replace one of the war heroes, the former battalion commander, the late Lt. Col. Salman Habka, who fell in battle in the northern Gaza Strip a few weeks ago.

Habeqa, 33, from Yanuh-Jat, served as commander of the 53rd Battalion of the 188th Brigade and fell in battle in the northern Gaza Strip in early November. In the events of October 7, he fought dozens of terrorists almost single-handedly in Bari and managed to save many lives. He is survived by his wife, a two-year-old son, three brothers and two sisters.
